Fishing Report

With steady warmer weather, the Bay and the Gulf temperatures are rising into 70s. As a result, the fishing is really heating up as the schools of white bait have showed up on and near the flats, and we have shifted our presentations to match the size and color of the bait and that has produced good numbers of redfish, trout, and snook off oyster bars, creek mouths, docks, and flats.  When matching the hatch with artificials, we are using jigs with shad colored soft plastics, gold spoons, and white jerkbaits, and using white/chartreuse clousers and deceivers for flies. We have been targeting and catching other species such as drum, sheepshead, snapper, and grunts and using cut bait and shrimp on size 1/0 circle hooks with split shots and 20lb fluorocarbon leaders.
