Winter has arrived but the fishing remains very productive in the Bay area. There is still plenty of white bait around the Skyway bridge, and we are catching good numbers of fish. On warmer days we have focused more on inshore flats and transition areas into the backwaters. Half day trips have produced good numbers of redfish and snook off of oyster bars, creek mouths, docks, and flats. We have been using live scaled sardines, cut bait, shrimp, and artificial lures. Jigs and spoons have been the most productive lures. During the cold snaps, we have targeting redfish and snook along with other species such as drum and sheepshead under and around residential docks and backwaters. There are still plenty of options available for a great day of fishing.
